Our Story

A disheartened young lady observed in her surrounding a pitiful scenario whereby young girls go early in the morning to a forest area in the highlands of Addis to fetch firewood. The burden of life becomes more unbearable when these girls get raped.
If they are lucky enough to escape that, the routine continues to take the fire wood back to home, sale some cotton products made during the night and buy some grain from the market, take the grain to their mother, and run to school before it is too late, most often without having breakfast. Cases of dropouts from school or being completely unable to start education in the first place is the most common fate of such girls.
If they get raped, life simply becomes more miserable, with all the consequences of pregnancy, abortion and associated social, economic and health traumas.
This vicious circle affects the babies of such girls and definitely their families: thereby leaving an already destitute family in further social and economic shambles.
